Highlights:
Helambu is northeast of Kathmandu in the Melamchi River Valley. Although it is quite close to the capital city Kathmandu, this region is less traveled by foreigners. Below the towering peaks of Gunjala Chuli, Dorji Lhakpa and Phurbi Chyachu of the Langtang Himalayan Range lay the beautiful foothills that are inhabited by Hyalmo Sherpas, Tamangs and various other ethnic groups. This trek offers amazing views with majestic snowcapped peaks rising above the mosaic of villages, terraced farmlands and forested hills.
Your travel experience in this part of Nepal will be culture and nature. If you would like to see the true rural cultures of Nepal, people’s way of life, easy to moderate trekking and enjoy scenic vistas, then, this is one of the areas to consider. Once you are on the trail, your guide will arrange to visit local homes, monasteries and meet people to see their way of life.
